The Client
Adore Addis provides work, event, dining and living spaces for individuals and companies in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. Adore soft launched in late 2021 and since then has seen growth in their client base. As Adore combines a number of services, the products offered must be consistent and appeal to different kinds of customers.
Competitive Analysis
I began by conducting a competitive analysis of co-working spaces, incubation hubs and boutique hotels in Ethiopia. As Adore offers an array of services the competitive analysis included a combination of indirect and direct competitors. The analysis included:

-
Blue Space, a fully furnished and services workspace with multiple locations;
-
Ice Addis, Ethiopia's first innovation hub and co-creation space;
-
Mazeki Addis Boutique Hotel, a centrally located hotel with a lounge and minimal meeting space and terrace which also includes breakfast.
My aim was to understand the manner each of the businesses presented their services, including pricing, descriptions and imagery.

User Research
User research for this project relied heavily on focus groups and 1:1 interviews with the founders of the business.
The discussions began with the inception of the business including the short term and long term goals. Additionally, we discussed the current challenges in terms of visual identity.

Next I took pictures of the space that related to the menu, including food items, the bar, the terrace and the rooms. I also analyzed the website and the current menu.
Using this data I was able to identify a few pain points.

1
Menu that is easily editable.

Consistency between online and physical menu and brand.
Starting The Design
I began the design by focusing on the text and accompanying descriptions as the design would vary depending on the length and amount of the text.
Following this I searched for matching font to ensure consistency with the Adore brand.

Physical Menu

Online Menu
Conclusion
The menu was kept simplistic to ensure readability and accessibility. Furthermore, it allows for changes to be made with minimal effort.
While the physical menu was kept white, it was decided that the online menu would be inverted to black to better match the online presence and offer contrast while still maintaining consistent branding.
